Today Acer extends its Chromebook lineup with the Acer
Chromebook R 13, the industry’s first convertible Chromebook with a 13.3-inch
display.
The new Chromebook R 13 features a flexible design with a
large 13.3-inch screen that can be used in a number of different modes
including as a tablet thanks to its 360-degree hinges. Up to 12 hours1 of
battery life provides all-day productivity and fun. Plus, the Chromebook will
provide additional capabilities thanks to planned support for Android apps via
the Google Play™ Store.
“The 13-inch touch display is large and vibrant, so it’s
ideal for anything from homework and spreadsheets to games, video and fun apps,
said James Lin, General Manager, Commercial & Detachable Notebooks, IT
Products Business at Acer. “Plus, up to 12 hours of battery life means our
customers can use it at school or work and continue using it into the evening
for activities like homework and watching movies.”
The Chromebook R 13 is the latest addition to Acer’s
convertible Chromebook lineup following the successful 11-inch Acer Chromebook
R 11. Like its predecessor, the Chromebook R 13 transitions fluidly between
four usage modes – laptop, pad, display and tent – so that customers can stay
productive and entertained in a range of settings.
According to data from Gartner , Acer Group is the
world’s leading Chromebook brand with over 33 percent market share in 2015.
Large Touch Screen Surrounded by Sleek Design
The Acer Chromebook R 13 features a 13.3-inch
touch-screen high-brightness Full HD display with 1920x1080 resolution and
IPS technology to provide vivid colors
and sharp images and text. The LED-backlit LCD also delivers wide-viewing
angles so students and family members can use it in tandem for group projects,
sharing videos, and more.
The display provides integrated 10-point touch
capabilities that support Tap, Swipe and Pinch-to-Zoom gestures so any web page
or app can benefit. The display is complemented by an HD webcam (1280x720
resolution) with High Dynamic Range imaging and 720p HD audio/video recording
and an integrated microphone for webchats. HD audio with dual built-in speakers
placed on the lower portion and sides of the Chromebook perfectly complements
the display for first-rate entertainment.
The Acer Chromebook R 13’s large display makes the most
of the system’s compact design, allowing it to slip easily into book bags and
backpacks. It weighs only 1.49kg (3.28 pounds) and sports a thin profile of
326W x 228D x 15.5H mm (12.83W x 8.98D x 0.61H inches).
Long Battery Life and Exceptional Performance for Work
and Play
Delivering up to 12 hours of battery life, the Chromebook
R 13 gives consumers the freedom to stay productive, connected and entertained
for longer. The device is powered by a MediaTek M8173C CorePilot™ quad-core
processor for solid every day performance, and also connects quickly via 2x2
MIMO 802.11ac wireless technology.
The Chromebook R 13 has a USB Type-C port that allows
fast data transfers, connection to a high-resolution external display, and to
charge the device or provide power to other peripherals. It also includes USB
3.0, HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0, microphone and headphone jacks.
The Acer Chromebook R 13 will be available in several
configurations, either with 64GB, 32GB or 16GB eMMC storage and 4GB of dual
channel LPDDR3 SDRAM .
Four Modes to Fulfil Needs at Work or at Play
The Chromebook R 13 is equipped with Acer’s patented
360-degree dual-torque hinges that allow the display to be folded back to any
degree that the situation requires. The dual-torque hinges also stabilize the
display when touchscreen controls are being used and while switching between
four modes:
Laptop mode keeps the display at 90-degrees from the
keyboard for an efficient and productive input and typing experience.
Display mode bends the keyboard under the system so the
display is closer to the viewer. When the Chromebook R 13 is put in this
position, the on-screen image auto-rotates to the correct viewing orientation.
Tent mode provides an ideal viewing and touch experience
in confined spaces such as when traveling on a plane or train.
Pad mode allows the Chromebook to be used as a tablet
with the display and keyboard touching, so customers can have an enjoyable way
to play, share and browse in both landscape and portrait orientations.
Chrome is Secure, Easy to Use and Share in Different
Modes
The Acer Chromebook R 13 is the ideal device for a range
of customers who view, edit, create and collaborate in programs such as Microsoft
Office Online documents and Google Docs. Chromebooks are simple to use and
ideal for sharing by multiple users, since users can log into their own account
to access Docs, website bookmarks and other information. Storage on Google
Drive protects files, documents, and photos safely in the cloud, and ensures
that the most current version of the file or document is always available and
safe, even if the Chromebook is lost or stolen.
Security is a key benefit of Chromebook, as it’s
automatically updated to guard against ever-changing online threats. In
addition, the Supervised Users feature helps get customers online in a safe,
controlled way.
